Features of Takin

  • Live display of the reciprocal and real lattice, and the unit cell. The latter, if atomic positions and the spacegroup are given.
  • Drag-and-drop manipulation of the scattering triangle and instrument configuration.
  • Bragg peaks in the reciprocal space view show the structure factor and the corresponding Brillouin zone.
  • Live calculation and display of the triple-axis instrumental resolution based on the current scattering triangle.
  • Supported resolution functions: Cooper-Nathans, Popovici, Eckold-Sobolev, and Violini (for TOF).
  • Network interface to real instruments. Currently supported protocols: NICOS (MLZ) and SICS (PSI).
  • Resolution convolution simulation and fitting to measured data given an external Python or Julia model for the dynamical structure factor S(Q,E).
  • Available for Windows, macOS and Linux
  • Opensource (GNU GPL v2)
